Chad Mirkin, "Colloidal Crystal Engineering with DNA" | KNI Distinguished Seminar
On November 1, 2021, Professor Chad Mirkin (Northwestern University) presented the KNI Distinguished Seminar on "Colloidal Crystal Engineering with DNA: Repurposing the Blueprint for Life".
Mirkin discusses how DNA and other nucleic acids can be used as highly programmable surface ligands ("bonds") to control the spacing and symmetry of nanoparticle building blocks ("atoms") in structurally sophisticated materials, analogous to a genetic code for materials assembly. The sequence and length tunability of nucleic acid bonds has allowed us to define a powerful set of design rules for the construction of nanoparticle superlattices with more than 70 unique lattice symmetries, spanning over one ...

Ellipsometry & CompleteEASE Part 5: Thickness Measurement of Metals
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.4 года назад
This video is an example of a technique used for measuring the thickness of a metal thin film. This is done by depositing a thin film of metal (10-20nm thick) on top of a layer of dielectric material, on top of a Silicon wafer. Its main application is in the preparation and analysis of samples for developing etch processes for the metal layer. Disclaimer: This video is intended to serve as supp...

Exceptional... Thank you very much for this.
Excellent lecture
Thanks for the very helpful video. On my FEI Sirion system, I could not find the green X when using Crossover function, So I could not check the alignment of green X and bright dot. Could you show me how to activate the green X? Thank you very much.
Excellent video. Simulation part may seem not very useful to some listeners but monte carlo simulation is a very valuable addition to the lecture. Good job!
Wow zero comments? This was an awesome presentation. Lots of great references and information.
great lecture i listened every second of it carefully.thanks for sharing this awesome explanation video, you made my day.
All links to handouts/presentations are now dead. Can you make these files available again? Excellent presentation!
What If I get a great fit but my imaginary index goes negative? Is there a way I can solve this issue?
Thank you for making this!!!
thanks for the upload!
Can this tech be used to create an "generic air-gen effect" device?
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!
Will we have these in our bodies this decade?
Hello, Thanks for this great presentation. Can I able to use this model for transparent thin films (eg: NiO, TiO2…etc) ? Thanks in advance
what is the material of the pipette to dipense the photoresist? Does it need to be high density polyethylene (HDPE)?
Thank you so much for this excellent video!
excellent video series... now I can tell my PhD students to just watch youtube :)
Great lecture. This summarizes pretty well a 4month course on electron microscopy. One could easily spend 1 week talking about vacuum systems, 1 week on electron guns, 2 weeks on electron-matter interaction, etc.. SEM is a very complex tool-system involving a lot of fundamental physics as well as top engineering... the effort and clarity put in this lecture is awesome. Thanks.
What do you mean by 'focus to the right' and 'focus to the left'?Does it just mean you're changing the focal plane?
Her electronic skin just hit the press.🕵
Thank you! 🌞
a total masterclass thank you for posting ths
What graphics program did you use to make the handout?
These handouts were made in Adobe Illustrator
Bravo for this
Hello the range of fitting is from 400 to 1000nm, would it be more accurate if increase the range from 400 to 2000nm? Thanks a lot.
Thank you
Great video! Thank you!
thank you
Thank you a lot! I once got an introduction to our SEM and am working with EBSD every now and then, and i couldn't get a proper explaination to the lens alignment and the sigmatism and always did it by feeling and trying around without knowing to go one direction at a time, which is always a pain in the A. Is it possible to lens align on tilted samples? Because my EBSD samples are always 70° pre-tilted.
Excellent, I have never seen that so clearly state everything on one page before. Good job!!!
Y B
Please watch
Thank you very much! Unfortunately, GFIS alignment video is not available.
15:50 "It's not rocket science". Well it's quantum science, which is actually far more harder than rocket science lol
This guy is one of the most impressive scientists alive
This lecture is a masterpiece, finally I understood all the detailes about SEM principles I needed. I am sure I will get much better images after getting this knowledge. Thanks a lot, Dr. Hunt!
Hi The Kavli Nanoscience Institlute at Caltech, I have question about your video 1/ Could SEM see nano materials, clearly or blur ? (I mean it's a normal SEM, not FE-SEM or high resolution SEM). 2/ Which is the best method, cheap and convenience for characterizing (shape and size) nano materials? I hope I would receice your answer soon. Thanks The Kavli Nanoscience Institlute at Caltech so much.
Interesting!!
Interesting!!
Interesting!!
Great job! I am sure this has helped a lot of people, I know it helped me!
Great lecture....
Great video. I am in High school and have have been restoring an old SEM from the 1980s, so this has been very helpful in teaching me the general concepts. Thanks!
Thank you bery much for the video. Could you please tell me what are the differents technologies that can be used in LDI technology? I think GLP and DMD can be used. Am i right? What elese? thank you
Hello! The video on Eucentric Height is currently set to private. Can you please make it available to the public? I appreciate the videos content. Thank you!
